A dive adventure like no other: discover the colourful corals of Kimbe Bay and the pelagic fish action of New Ireland, both boasting a huge biodiversity of marine life.

Begin your adventure diving Kimbe Bay, where the coral reefs and marine life are extraordinarily rich and home to over half the coral species in the world. The 25+ regularly visited dive sites boast barrel sponges larger than some divers, incredible colours and several species of shark patrolling the outer reefs.

Continue your diving experience from a private resort island near Kavieng for more amazing and unspoilt diving opportunities. Diving highlights include exceptional drift dives with sharks, rays and swirling schools of pelagic species, as well as some fascinating wreck dives.

Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart the UK

  2. Day 2: Arrive Singapore and continue to Papua New Guinea

    It is possible to break up the long journey by spending time in Singapore on the way out or back. 

  3. Day 3: Arrive Port Moresby and continue to New Britain

    You will be met on arrival and transferred to Walindi Plantation Resort for a seven night stay. Located on the shores of Kimbe Bay, the diving experience here is out of this world.

  4. Days 4-8 : Dive Kimbe Bay

    Your dive package begins this morning. Enjoy 10 day boat dives here, to be used as you like during your stay. 

    Discover the uncrowded local dive sites of Kimbe Bay, home to over half the coral species in the world. Vivid colours, vibrant, healthy and beautiful reefs make this an underwater photographer’s dream.

  5. Day 10: Domestic flight and transfer to New Ireland

    Today includes two domestic flights and a boat transfer from Kavieng to Lissenung Island Resort, a private island and your new home for the next six nights, with possibly the most hospitable hosts we know!

  6. Days 11-14 : Dive New Ireland

    Your dive package begins this morning. Enjoy four days/eight boat dives during your stay, exploring the local dive sites renowned primarily for pelagic encounters, although there are plenty of weird and wonderful marine species which will be pointed out to you by the experienced local dive guides.

    Expect to see sharks, tuna, mackerel, huge schools of jacks and barracuda, plus possible schools of eagle and mobula rays on thrilling drift dives. New Ireland also has some fabulous wreck dives to explore.

    Located just off the beach is a fantastic house reef, great for a night dive or to snorkel upon.

  7. Day 16: Depart Papua New Guinea

    Depending on the flight schedules, today may be an early start with a flight back to Port Moresby and onto Singapore with further transit time and overnight flight back to the UK.

  8. Day 17: Arrive UK

Please note: We recommend spending as long a time as possible exploring this amazing destination both underwater and topside. It’s possible to extend your journey to include time in the Highlands region too.
